Woehler & Berzelius
From WikidChem
[edit]Slide 16
This slide is a chart of chemists contributing to organic chemistry and their students according to their birthdays. In previous classes, we discussed Lavoisier and his analysis, Gay-Lussac, Berzelius and his analysis, and elemental analysis as a whole. We will soon be discussing Dumas, Liebig, and Woehler and the idea of isomers as discovered with urea.

This is the plaque with Wohler's and Liebig's names outside the chemistry building.
[edit]Slide 18, 19, 20
A letter from Wohler to Berzelius expressing his interest in being Berzelius's student. Their eventual collaboration proved important for the study of chemistry and the discovery of isomers. Woehler's main experiment involved reacting cyanic acid and ammonia, which resulted in a crystal which did not behave as he expected.
